Looking
for runners, walkers, and especially in-line skaters!
It's
Too Darn Bumpy!
Blading for Paving was created by
a group of in-line skaters who were concerned that Delaware Park's Ring
Road was deterioriating. They teamed up with the The Sports Exchange,
The Buffalo Wings, and Outokumpu American Brass to create a charity event
that was fun as well as raise money for the Olmsted
Conservancy. In this event, in-line skaters, runners and walkers
are all welcome.
Never in-line skated before?
Our second goal was to promote in-line skating
in the community as a fantastic form of exercise. At the event this
year a representative from Rollerblade will be coming with 50 sets of rollerblades
that you can borrow to try out! Sports Exchange will even have in-line
skates if you decide to buy right there!
The
Event
Rollerbladers, runners
and walkers receive one raffle ticket every time they complete a lap around
Ring Road between 10 a.m. and noon. Each of these raffle tickets
will earn the participant a chance to win many fantastic prizes.
Last year forty percent of our entrants received prizes!
A Carnival
Atmosphere
Walkers and runners are also invited to the event because this is
much different than a racing event. Buffalo's favorite clown
-- CECIL
the Skating Clown -- is guaranteed to keep you laughing throughout,
and "DJ the Dee Jay" will be playing tunes for the contestants and the
onlookers. Anyone can compete for the prizes as well as enjoy
the show afterwards!
Restoring
Delaware Park
To enter the event and get a chance at
the fantastic prizes, all you need to do is collect donations of at least
$25. (That's four friends donating $5 and kicking in $5 yourself).
We know it's too easy! All proceeds go to the Olmsted Conservancy
toward the restoration of Ring Road. Prizes will even be awarded
to the top three fund raisers!
